Some dogs were born to run marathons. Bulldogs? Not so much. Pancake the Bulldog proved this point perfectly when she attempted to join her mom for a yoga session and barely lasted five minutes before throwing in the towel. Or rather, the mat.

Rule #1: Both Mats Belong to Pancake
In the now-viral TikTok from @thebabypancake, two yoga mats were laid out side by side — one for Pancake’s mom, complete with a water bottle, and one for Pancake, complete with a dog bowl. But Pancake had other ideas. Rather than sticking to her own mat, she immediately moved over to her mom’s, flopping down in the shade.
The on-screen captions explained the situation perfectly: “Rule #1: Both mats belong to Pancake… she thinks this is couples’ yoga.” For a moment, the stubborn Bulldog sat watching her mom stretch, giving off pure judgment vibes. But before long, she was done. The final caption summed it up: “Five minutes of judgment is all you get.”
Viewers Fell in Love With Pancake’s Attitude
People couldn’t get enough of Pancake’s short-lived attempt at yoga. Comments poured in from viewers who related to her quick burnout and hilarious sass. One wrote, “This is me every time I try yoga.” Another joked, “Pancake nailed the hardest pose: lying down.” Someone else laughed, “She’s just here for the vibes, not the workout.”
Why Bulldogs Tire Out Quickly
While it might seem lazy, Pancake’s early exit from yoga is pretty typical for her breed. Bulldogs are considered brachycephalic, meaning they have flat faces and shorter airways. This makes heavy exercise more difficult and increases the risk of overheating and respiratory issues. Their stocky, muscular build also adds extra strain during physical activity.
Experts recommend Bulldogs stick to short spurts of activity, such as a few 10-minute walks each day in cool weather. Strenuous exercise, long runs, or outdoor play in hot conditions can be unsafe for them. Yoga may not be too demanding, but even that was more than Pancake was willing to commit to.
Pancake’s Next Workout?
While Pancake may not have mastered downward dog, she certainly mastered making people laugh. Her adorable attempt at ‘couples yoga’ shows that sometimes our pets don’t need to be fitness stars — they just need to be themselves. Maybe next time, Pancake will try something more her style, like meditation or a well-deserved nap. Either way, she’s already won our hearts.
